Jim Uglow

Jim Uglow began his martial arts training in 1971 when he began studying Karate.  In 1974, he was introduced to Tai Chi by a Chinese business man.  In 1978 he began training with Chu King Hung, the 3rd disciple of Yeung Sau Chung.  He continued his training for 10 years until Chu closed his London school.  He was then introduced to Chu Gin Soon, the 2nd disciple of Yeung Sau Chung, on a London trip in 1994.  He later visited and trained with Chu Gin Soon in Boston, Massachusetts.

Through a fortuitous set of introductions, Jim met Yeung Ma Lee (Mary), the 2nd daughter of Yeung Sau Chung, and began his training with her in 1997.  He is now Sifu Yeung's most senior student and holds the designation “Direct Student”.

Jim has been teaching since 1981, first as an assistant to Chu King Hung and on a full-time basis since 1983.  In 1993, he opened a full-time school located in Walthamstow, London.

Jim is also a very accomplished practitioner and teacher of Hung Kuen or “Hung Gar” Kung Fu which he has studied since 1978.  He trained for many years under the tutelage of Chan Hon Chung and since Sifu Chan's passing in 1991, continued his training under his elder kung fu brother Kong Pui Wai.  Kong Pui Wai is the Chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese Martial Arts Association and one of the most respected kung fu masters alive today.
